KARMAK9 DOG MASSAGE
– NEW ZEALAND
Canine Myofunctional Therapy Centre is dedicated to the memories of Miss Jovi, Tristen and Paraone, who patiently allowed me to practice my massaging techniques on them, each helping me towards realising my goal and in their own individual way, taught me about unconditional love. |

About Us |
| |
Born in Auckland, Beth was surrounded by animals from an early age. Her parents both animal lovers, gave her and her sisters the opportunity to have many kinds of pets throughout their childhood, but for Beth her favourite has always been dogs. She has been drawn to them and they to her and there have been only a couple of times in her life when she has not had a dog by her side.
Her first dog was Paraone, a chocolate brown Poodle X, given to her by her parents from one of the litter from her sisters Poodle Priscilla and were best mates for many years. At 20, she left to live in Australia, she first adopted, Tristen, a 6 month Maremma Sheepdog X who lived to 17 years, then Miss Jovi, Border Collie X who came to her at 5 years old and lived to 15 years. Both adopted from the RSPCA in Sydney, they were her constant loyal companions.
Tristen, a strong male but a puppy at heart, proved to be an excellent protector and Miss Jovi, a sweet loving quiet female always by Beth’s side. When Beth came home to NZ in 2002 for a prolonged stay, Jovi came too on the same flight and 12 months later, both returned to Sydney never far away or apart for long. |

Beth has over 30 years experience in human massage therapy in both Australia and New Zealand, with diplomas in Swedish, Remedial and Lymphatic Drainage Massage and numerous certificates in various massage modalities such as Baby Massage, Reflexology, Trigger Point, Aromatherapy, Bach Flowers, Reiki, Holistic Counselling, Emotional Links to Disease, Indian Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage etc.
As well as a career in publishing and sales, she ran her own Therapeutic Massage business specialising in Remedial and Lymphatic Drainage Massage. All this time, she was massaging her own dogs and dogs of family and friends. By doing so, she realised she wanted to transfer her massage skills, knowledge and experience and focus on working with dogs as a new career. But at the time there were no courses available that offered ‘dog massage’ or ‘small companion animal massage’ in Australia. |

After a permanent move back to New Zealand in 2008, Beth settled in Hibiscus Coast. She made enquiries from courses in other countries, such as USA / Europe / UK, where Dog and Small Animal Massage was recognised as a career. The massaging of dogs in these countries are increasing in popularity as more and more dog owners, animal therapists and veterinarians etc. see the enormous value and benefit of integrating CMT into their practices alongside other therapies and more traditional methods.
In early 2009, after learning that Australia was now offering courses with formal qualifications. Beth flew to Australia to begin her journey to become one of the first to offer Canine Myofunctional Therapy massage for dogs in New Zealand.
Now fully qualified Beth is looking forward to meeting you and your dog. She is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of NZ dogs through Canine Myofunctional Therapy.
